Frequently asked questions
Before you can start taking studies, you'll need to sign up, verify your details, and tell us a bit about yourself. This is so we can verify that you’re a real person and match you with relevant studies once you join. You can read a step-by-step breakdown of this process on our ‘How it works’ page here.
To be a participant on Prolific, you must be over 18 years of age, live in one of our supported countries, and create and verify an account.
Prolific is available for participants from most OECD countries, except Turkey, Lithuania, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Unfortunately, due to certain restrictions and regulations, we can’t verify IDs with confidence for some countries. We hope to make more countries available as the research on our platform expands. Please note that if you are from an unsupported country but live in one of the supported countries listed above, you can still join Prolific.
We use a waitlist system to manage new participant registrations. This helps us maintain high data quality by ensuring we have the right balance of participants across different demographics and expertise, with fair access to Prolific.
