Figma Problem FAQ & Solutions

Overview

This wiki was created to collect tricks and solutions for the Figma design tool.

Feel free to rip this page over to some other group-shared Wiki system.

Since everything is assumed to be a solution or trick to a problem or misunderstanding of the feature, the Questions are reformated to include as many keywords as possible to help people find good answers.

Background info

This wiki is currently maintained (when time permits) by Reichart. It is a hobby, and a way to learn Figma faster. (I can be reached there).

Feel free to bring my attention to anything.   I'm sure there are typos in here, don't be shy to help me correct them.

The information on this page is mostly harvested from the Spectrum site, and the Figma sub group

Special thanks to Caleb at App Design for his outstanding Figma lessons.

You would be a fool not to subscribe to his YouTube Channel.

Or catch him on FaceBook or his website www.AppDesignTips.com.

Most desired new features for Figma

#PleaseFigma

This list is an attempt to get this list started.  If there is a service (polling) we could use (a great feature for Spectrum to add), please tell me.

I'm a fan of 'feature or bug fix' followed by 'why.'

I use bullets as opposed to numbers since this is not a sorted list, just a list.

  • Angular gradients for Fill - there is no easy way to do this in vector otherwise.
  • Rasterized prototypes - so people can't steal designs easily.
  • Unique and rescindable Shared Links - because once you share a link, you're screwed right now.
  • Multiple prototype actions for one object - so that one can more easily do things like 'Hover over' and also 'Click on' for a button.

FAQ

Things Figma simply doesn't do yet, and how to deal with it.

Common in CSS.

Q: Hover over and Click on for the same object.

Figma allows only one action for an object, and Hover over wins.

To create the effect of both Hover over and also allow clicking on the same object, here is a tutorial.

Reichart. made a Youtube video
